The Undertaker buries Paul Bearer in cement
WWE The Great American Bash - June 27, 2004
Boy, the fans sure loved this one. Paul Heyman, who was managing The Dudley Boyz, challenged The Undertaker to a handicap with his team. If The Undertaker lost, Paul Bearer would be cased in cement.
So the match happened, and fittingly so, at one of the worst pay per view events in WWE history. The Undertaker won the match, but then went ahead and sent Bearer to his cement-cased grave.
Of course, this is ridiculous. It’s pro wrestling. But still, the complaint department got an earful from the WWE fans, since essentially, a simulated murder had taken place on one of their pay per views. Of course, the live audience got to see the full show, which included “Paul” being removed from the arena on a stretcher after being rescued from the glass case.
Wondering why I put Paul’s name in quotes? That’s because it wasn’t Paul Bearer on the pay per view. Yeah, even weirder element to the story, there was a stuntman in the case that was situated on the stage and Paul’s TV spots were pre-recorded. Want to see the tape of that? Click here.
